Using a Cross-Fade Transition in an Overlay Video Track

I'll bet you didn't think it was possible to use a transition between your video or image clips in the overlay tracks. Well I did too, until last night. Oddly enough I discovered this while trying to get a bumper designed in MSP to work in VS. To add to this a read through Terry Stetler's tutorial for MSP 8 on using Inter-Track Transitions. With MSP7 and earlier the transitions were placed on an FX track between the video tracks, that you wanted to transition. <---Read that sentence again!!! It's that easy... Didn't get it? Ok, with VS 10 Plus you can not actually place a transition between or on any of the overlay tracks. However you can:
  1. Fade-in and Fade-out clips on overlay tracks.
  2. Place clips on any of 6 overlay tracks.
  3. Overlap those clips
Now do you get it??

Ok I'll show you just how simple this is. Just click on the image below and I'll walk you through it.

There is a downside, :( you can only Create a cross fade. or Fade to Black. You see you are not applying a transition, you are creating it.
