PIX3: Stitching Photographs Together

Post by sjj1805 » Thu May 08, 2008 3:00 am

PhotoImpact 3 now has Cool360 built in - this used to be a separate application. Cool360 will enable you to stitch photographs together forming one larger photograph. This can be quite useful when you want a picture of something quite wide but you are unable to take a single picture of it with your digital camera.

Let us take a look at these 4 photographs and see how they can be merged into one.

I took these photographs with the intention of stitching them together later, to do this I picked out a common feature - in this case it was the line of the floorboards at the top of each picture. Then make a mental note of where the left edge finished so that when taking the next shot I would get the right edge to start just inside where the last one finished - allowing for the pictures to slightly overlap each other.

You can only join images that share the same data type and are either Grayscale or True Color.
COOL 360 only works with base images; objects cannot be stitched. To stitch an object, it must first be merged onto the base image.

Step 1.
Open all the pictures in PhotoImpact X3 that you want to stitch together.

Step 2.
