Due to an English Defence League (EDL) rally and counter protest in Birmingham City Centre, the decision was made to cancel the canal trip and relocate to Tyndale Crescent. Paul and Carl removed a fence panel so that both back gardens could be utilized. It was a hot sunny day with a large turnout. Lots of food including items brought in from local restaurants such as samosas, onion bhajees and lots more. |

Retirement Teething Problems!
Tuesday 16 July 2013 was my last "late" shift before retirement. I now have 2 night shift and an early left. I stated earlier that I would bring in some samosas to work on my last late shift because this was my last opportunity to work alongside most of my work mates, the night shifts have less staff, the remaining early shift is with another group due to a duty change.
I didn't tell my workmates but during the morning I suddenly developed severe toothache. I tried taking paracetamol and later Nurofen but neither had any effect. The pain was like a hot burning poker and kept swapping between two teeth on my lower left. Normally I would have telephoned the dentists straight away but couldn't on this occasion in view of the importance of the day ahead. One of my female colleagues even bought in a couple of large cakes.
Still in pain when I got home my wife said she would telephone the dentists first thing in the morning - as I was on a night shift I have to try and stay in bed for as long as possible. Gail got me booked in for 11am and so I got up and began to clean my teeth ready. Suddenly one of my recent fillings fell out from one of the two teeth concerned! The dentist has now put a new filling in and so hopefully this will cure the problem.
