Keeping Cool with a Koala Shade
Based
upon how I have tackled the enormous build up of heat in the Conservatory which
then travels throughout the house, this year we have invested in a purpose built
roof cover. In previous years I have draped blankets over the roof held in place
with house bricks - problem with blankets is of course the rain. Last year
(2009) I bought a tarpaulin and draped that over the conservatory. This worked
very well but obviously it was not a good fit and it was difficult finding a way
to fasten the tarpaulin to the roof.
Gail made a search of the internet and found a website specialising in made to measure conservatory roof covers. Send in your measurements and they cut one to the correct size for you.

Annie & Lucy 4th Birthday at Shugborough Hall
Annie and Lucy Celebrated their 4th Birthday with a
visit to
Shugborough Hall, Stafford. The day got off to a sluggish start due to heavy congestion on the M6 Motorway taking almost a hour to travel the short distance from our house to Junction 9, Wednesbury. We were unable to get off the motorway at this time because we were stuck in the middle lane and unable to get over to the exit. We managed to get off at the next junction and made our way to Shugborough Hall via Bloxwich and Cannock. The dogs had a further treat of a long sausage each from a chip shop at Milford Common. Weather was reasonable good. They were also subject to a bit of fuss from a group of children on school trip. Click the photograph to see our album. |

Ground Elder
After years of failing to
get rid of the ground elder we finally decided to invest in some Blue
Slate Chippings.
As an extra measure the chippings are on top of the plastic bags they came in, this should help prevent anything growing through. |
Pauls Front Garden
Paul has been removing all the long grass and rubble from in front of
the tree. Then he has put down several bags of pebbles creating a nice
path like effect.
