Porthcawl
Between Friday 11 and Monday 14 October, Gail, Steve, Paul and Zena enjoyed a mini break at Trecco Bay, Porthcawl.
Weather was good on Friday and Saturday, a bit of rain on Sunday did not stop us from enjoying the indoor heated swimming pool of course!
The night time entertainment was excellent. Fulgoni's Ice Cream was as good as ever and the meals at Fulgonis are second to none.
Our caravan was a six sleeper with two toilets, two showers, central heating, double glazing, Freeview TV, fridge, freezer, microwave, cooker etc.
Annie
Annie went to the vets on Tuesday 8 October where the vet has now prescribed heart tablets. We noticed an immediate improvement becoming more lively and breathing much better. She will now be on these tablets for life.
MOT
Our Ford Mondeo passed its MOT but only just scraped through due to high emissions. We will be replacing the car after the winter period, probably end of spring or early summer 2014. It is now 15 years old and so I think we have had our moneys worth!
Fairlawns Hotel
For Gail's Birthday our 3 sons all chipped in together to treat Gail and Steve to a night in the Fairlawns Hotel, Aldridge on Sunday 6 October 2014. This included an evening meal and breakfast. The Hotel has a large Spa and so we were treated to all of the facilities which included the swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi, steam rooms and lots more.
Skittles at Blackpole.
On Saturday 5 October our group went to the above where Steve won a prize for the highest scoring male.
Granddaughters.
Bryony has now started opening doors and putting quite a few words together including 'Grandad'.
Megan managed two steps at the weekend so it will not be long now before she catches up with Amelia at walking!

Archie Loses 4 Pounds in Weight
Following our return from our holiday in North America, it was time for the dogs to have their injections.
We took this opportunity to weigh the dogs whilst at the vets. When we initially took Archie for a check up near the end of May 2011, he weighed in at a massive 14.8
kilogram's. We were very pleased to see he has now reduced that to 12.6
Kilogram's almost two bags of sugar. The Vet has told us he needs to lose a
further Kilogram to achieve his target. Well done Archie.

Archie finds a new home
Having been previously chipped by his original owner we were able to establish that Archie was born during 2006 and so is roughly the same age as Annie and Lucy.Presently Archie is only eating one meal per day - at teatime. Despite being given "breakfast" he does not eat any even if we try to feed him by hand. We have also found out that his previous owners used to feed him chocolate (poisonous to dogs!) Once we took ownership of Archie we went out and bought him his own collar, lead and bedding. We saw an immediate change where he knew these were his and he appeared more happier and lively.

Annie & Lucy 4th Birthday at Shugborough Hall
Annie and Lucy Celebrated their 4th Birthday with a
visit to
Shugborough Hall, Stafford. The day got off to a sluggish start due to heavy congestion on the M6 Motorway taking almost a hour to travel the short distance from our house to Junction 9, Wednesbury. We were unable to get off the motorway at this time because we were stuck in the middle lane and unable to get over to the exit. We managed to get off at the next junction and made our way to Shugborough Hall via Bloxwich and Cannock. The dogs had a further treat of a long sausage each from a chip shop at Milford Common. Weather was reasonable good. They were also subject to a bit of fuss from a group of children on school trip. Click the photograph to see our album. |

Lucy treated for Hemorrhagic GastroEnteritis
Following on the th problems we had with Annie, After finishing a night shift I got up out of bed at about 1500 hrs Thursday 24 Sep 2009 , to find that Gail had taken Lucy to the Vets in Aldridge. Zena was home and assisted with the transport to get her there. Lucy had diahorrea which in Gails opinion was worse than that suffered by Annie. The vets had placed her on a drip.
I collected her at about 1900 hrs. By now she had made a good recovery and was bright and cheerful. I had to take her back to the vet for 0940 in the morning for her canula to be removed. She was given the same medication as Annie and the vet said it was best now to wait for the results of the tests on Annies poo taken in on Wednesday. At about 1800 hrs we had a phone call from the vets to say that there were no viruses found in the poo sample but they were now checking for possible food poisoning with results expected around about next Wednesday.
