After years of failing to
get rid of the ground elder we finally decided to invest in some Blue
Slate Chippings.
As an extra measure the chippings are on top of the plastic bags they came in, this should help prevent anything growing through. |

First Visit To Dentists in 15 years.
I began having problems with my lower right back tooth just before Christmas.
Who wants to go to the dentist with all that Christmas food, cakes, sweets etc. so decided to wait until after Christmas. As the Festivities drew to a close I began to think of our forthcoming mini holiday in Scotland so again a trip to the dentists got put off. Following this I thought of my two and half weeks annual leave at the end of March, start of April.
As my annual leave approached more excuses surfaced, Tuesday night is bingo at the working Mens Club, Wednesday night is Bingo at the Community Centre so I thought about going on Thursday. To cut a long story short Thursday came and went, then the birthdays started, Mine, Carl's, Rebecca's, Bowling night in Worcester. My tooth got worse over the 4 day Easter Weekend (Good Friday to Easter Monday) so eventually on Tuesday morning I plucked up the courge to telephone the Kingstanding Dental Centre. I was quite surprised when they offered me a choice of appointments 0930-0945-1000-1015 so I opted for the 10am slot.
Hardly surprising I will need lots of work to be done - out of at least 7 broken teeth I anticipate at least 4 extractions. Keeping this short - the dentist prescribed some antibiotics to deal with the abscess first and so treatment proper starts next Tuesday 13th April 2010.

Paul and Christophers Birthday's
We celebrated Paul and Christopher's birthdays by having a family outing at
TGI Fridays, Sutton Coldfield. Carl and Heather, Paul and Zena, Christopher and Alison, Nicola, Paul and Rebecca, Sam and Billy, Gail and myself.
The food was good but overall expensive. The service for the drinks was a bit poor.
You "Buy a glass" for Coke and can have it filled as many times as you wish. Unfortunately some members of our party were unaware at first and paid more than once. I went and waited at the bar for some 5 minutes to have mine and Gails glasses refilled to be told by the barman you had to ask a waitress at the table.
He saw me standing there for 5 minutes with no one else in the queue so that was poor. Next I had to wait for ages for a waitress to appear and summon her to the table. Later she only brought back one glass and had approached me from behind. She put the lone glass down and had gone before I had chance to swivell round.
When the bill came I handed my Bank Card over to pay, the waitress went off with the bill and came back with the machine. After paying it was then noticed that she had exchanged the bill for the receipt so we were now unable to check that the bill was correct. A few members of our party thought we had been over charged but it was now too late. I also thought that the place was very noisy and also there was not much space at the table.

Sunday Lunch at the Whittington Arms
Today we had a family outing to the Whittington Arms, just outside Lichfield.
Gail, myself, Christopher, Alison, Paul, Zena, Nicola, Paul and Rebecca.
Firstly we had to wait before we could go to our reserved table. Due to this we were told they would give us our drinks Free. The meal took a long time to arrive.
Gail asked for more gravy and it came in a small milk jug - enough for one!
We were over charged but Alison spotted the mistake. The waitress returned with an amended bill which I then paid. Alison then discovered we had still been overcharged and so they had to give me a partial refund!
