Upgrade Windows To Go

You can update Windows to go (Bootable Windows on a USB Drive) but to upgrade to a newer version you firstly need the change a registry key.
Run REGEDIT as an Administrator and navigate to

Code: Select all

"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control"
and change the value "PortableOperatingSystem" from 1 to 0
Then simply run Windows update as usual and if there is an upgrade - say from Windows 10 20H1 to Windows 10 20H2 it will appear as an update.
Remember to change the registry key back to 0 when the upgrade has completed
