Note	Won the Republican Nomination upon Roosevelts recommendation. Won the 1908 election over William J. Bryan by a popular vote of 7,675,320 to 6,412,294 and an electoral vote of 321 to 162. James S. Sherman was his vice-president. On June 30, 1921 he became Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Because of his weight of 332 pounds he was nich-named "Big Bill".
