So what have I been
doing?: I am going to include here "95th
Party Re-Located" because this took place in those 5 rest days
between my last shift with my own colleagues and that one odd morning on
Wednesday 24 July, From a practical viewpoint my retirement started on
Friday 19 July - it was simply spoiled by having to go in again for that
one odd day - but hey ho - I was handing in my uniform and ID card, plus
with the change of shift to earlies I did get to go out that evening to
the Community Centre.
Up until now I could only go the Community Centre two Wednesdays out of
four, likewise with the
Working Men's Club
on Tuesdays and the Quiz Night/Meal at the
Whitehouse on
Thursdays. Thursday was taken up with child-minding duties for
Bryony
followed by Quiz Night. Friday saw an extra night out at the Community
Centre for 'Open The Box' - this is another event that takes place
roughly once per month that I could not always get to. Over the weekend
my Niece came to stop for a few days. Even though there appear to be
blank entries on my calendar, I have had very little extra time to
myself Wednesday and Thursdays are taken up with Child-minding Bryony,
Fridays are child-minding the Twins. It also seems that Christopher pops
the twins over either on a Monday or Tuesday - sometimes both!
Wednesday mornings now also includes 2 hours at the
Collingwood Centre
for a game of carpet bowls (Gail has Bryony to herself for a couple of
hours). Again this is something I couldn't previously do due to working
shifts. Saturday 3 August and our Group of 6 (Pete, Karen, John,
Carol, Gail and myself) celebrated Pete and Karens 40th Wedding
anniversary at
"Modern China." On Tuesday 6 August Chris, Gail, the Twins and
myself went to the
West Midlands Safari Park. Saturday 10 August and Gail has
gone with
Karen
and Carol
to a Spa being held at
Alton Towers,
This has given me the chance to finally get round to typing this entry
plus sorting out more of the several hundred photographs still to be
filed, sorted and indexed. Later this evening
John,
Pete and
myself will be having a
Curry at the Indian
near the Cat and Fiddle. Then on Sunday it is a family afternoon out for
a meal at the
Fairlawns Hotel, Aldridge.
Other forthcoming events include: 23 August - Open the Box Bingo: 27 August - Max Lewin's Retirement: 31
August - Wedding at Bromsgrove: 11 October - Caravan Holiday at Trecco
Bay, Porthcawl. This years "New Years Celebration" will be held in
Weston Super Mare.
